Things To Do In Provo

Provo is the antitheses of boring. It’s full of great spots for foodies and culture vultures. Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University host a wide variety of stage productions, musical events, lectures and other cultural activities. Plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities are complemented by unique dining options to satisfy your appetite for adventure, and, you know, good food.

Some local favorite things to do include:

Hiking to the summit of Mt. Timpanogos is a popular trek for the adventurous. Most hikers can make it to the summit and back down in one long day hike, but know what you're signing up for: It's steep, strenuous and satisfying. From the summit you can see approximately forever. Some people (without kids or other obligations) climb Timp at night. When the moon is full, you hardly need a flashlight in open areas (but bring a flashlight because of course you should). Watching the sun rise over Heber will make you mad you've wasted so many mornings.

Located right off of Interstate 15, Thanksgiving Point is a confusing collection of awesome. It holds the following: dinosaur museum, botanical gardens, cafes, golf course, Curiosity Museum, corn maze (in the fall, of course), traveling exhibits and a huge gift store with everything from artisanal candy to furniture. Don't try to find a common thread in all this. Just go explore.

Another favorite family spot is the 26-acre water theme park, Seven Peaks, which features over 40 ways to soak, surf, swim and burn through your swimsuit on huge waterslides.
