Driving south from the junction of US-89/30 in the town of Garden City, this route travels the western shore of Bear Lake.
The lake is a popular water sport haven for boating, sailing, jet skiing, fishing and swimming. Two Utah state parks are located along the byway with camping, picnicking and boat launching facilities available. January and early February bring hundreds of people who brave the cold to catch the spawning Bonneville Cisco. The area is also a popular snowmobile and cross-country skiing.
