Cross Country Skiing

Cross-country skiing on groomed trails is a favorite winter sport in Utah. In addition, Utah has hundreds of roads and trails in its National Forests and on BLM land which are ideal for cross-country skiing. There are mountain top routes, tracks through snow-dusted red rock, historic trails... even some of our snowed-in golf courses get into the act. Backcountry skiers should be well-prepared, and should check weather and avalanche forecasts prior to setting out. Many agree that Utah's backcountry is some of the most accessible and has the best snow.

Northern Utah

Soldier Hollow

2002 Winter Olympic facility, located in the Park City/Heber area, 23 km of trails used both in winter and summer.

Wasatch Mountain State Park

Beautiful four-season park located in the Park City/Heber area. The park offers a 10K Nordic ski track with diagonal stride and skating lanes, groomed on the golf course. It includes both flat and hilly terrain with views of the farms and mountains of Heber Valley. Nordic ski rentals are available at the park.

Solitude Nordic Center, Big Cottonwood Canyon

Near Salt Lake City. 20 km of groomed trails, lessons, rentals available, and tours offered.

Sundance Nordic Center

Provo Canyon (east of Provo). 15 km of groomed trails, lessons, rentals available, night skiing.

The Homestead Cross-Country Ski Center

Near Midway/Heber. 12 km of groomed trails, lessons, rentals available.

Sherwood Hills

Near Logan. 20 km of trails - 5 km groomed, lessons by prior arrangement, rentals available, night skiing.

White Pine Touring Center

Park City. 18 km of groomed trails, lessons, rentals available, and tours offered.

Park City Yurts

Park City, near Canyons Resort.

Alta Ski Resort

5km of groomed track, located at mid-mountain and accessible via Sunnyside Lift with your Nordic Pass or Track Ticket. Track tickets are only available at the Wildcat Ticket office. Alta rents and sells a full line of classic skate, telemark, and snowshoe gear.
