MountainBased was founded in 2016 by brothers James, Justin, and Jared Ebert, along with their cousin Nick St. John. Their family has a history of adventure travel spanning three generations. Their goal is to provide exceptional hiking adventures that honor the same outdoor philosophies as our grandparents’ organization, the Iowa Mountaineers (1940-1996). For us, adventure travel is more than their passion, it’s their purpose.

Whether you decide on camping or lodging, private tours will operate according to our listed trip itineraries and will stay at the same accommodations unless alternate requests are made in advance.
