Great Western Trail

The Great Western Trail is a trail system from Canada down to Mexico, and covers 4,455 miles through Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and Arizona. It threads together diverse desert, alpine, forest and plateau landscapes.

You can access 1,600 miles of the trail in Utah from Logan Canyon, Ogden area mountains, the Wasatch Front (Millcreek, Brighton or Alta ski areas), American Fork Canyon and down south near Bryce Canyon and Grand Staircase-Escalante.

Some segments of the trail are non-motorized, and some portions have been developed for motorized use.

The trail is the backbone of Utah's trail system, and in 1996, the Great Western Trail officially became Utah's Centennial Trail as part of the state's statehood centennial celebration.
