Twisted Forest Hiking Trail
This hike offers up close views of ancient Bristlecone Pine trees and fabulous vistas above Cedar Breaks National Monument. It is located in Dixie National Forest, on Cedar Mountain.
Bristlecone Pines are thought to be the oldest living things on earth. Some have lived for thousands of years.
Trailhead

To reach the trailhead, drive Hwy 143 east from Parowan for about 10 miles, then turn onto the scenic Summit Canyon Road. Follow it for about six miles until you reach the Twisted Forest Road, which leads to the trailhead.
The Summit Canyon Road forks several times. In each case, take the fork that stays high on the mountain.

From the parking area, follow the obvious trail into the forest and along the rim above Cedar Breaks.
This trail is located at an elevation of about 9750 feet above sea level. People with heart or lung conditions may not want to hike at this altitude. There are also sheer drop-offs in places along the rim, so use caution.
