While Utah is famous for its national parks and world-renowned ski resorts, there's an equally exciting destination often overlooked, right in the heart of the state. Welcome to Piute County!

Though it's the second-least populated county in Utah, Piute County is full of adventure and offers plenty to see and do. Its peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere is one of its biggest draws.

If you're looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience that's just as thrilling as any other part of the state, here's why Piute County should be at the top of your list.

Take a thrilling ride through the Paiute ATV Trail

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure on the Paiute ATV Trail, one of Piute County's crown jewels and one of the longest ATV trails in the country. Spanning an impressive 275 miles, this epic trail was crafted by locals in 1990 to connect small communities throughout the county — and it's been a wild ride ever since.

As you cruise along, you'll discover countless side shoots that lead you through rugged mountain terrain, where you can encounter wildlife in their natural habitat, explore cascading waterfalls and even step back in time with historic gems like the 300-year-old Miner's Park.

The trails weren't impacted by the Silver King Fire, so you'll be able to explore to your heart's content!

With a trail this expansive, it's no wonder that many of Piute County's top events revolve around the Paiute ATV Trail.

Have a blast at the Paiute Trail Jamboree

One of the standout events along the Paiute ATV Trail is the annual Paiute Trail Jamboree, a four-day festival that celebrates everything this incredible trail has to offer.

The Jamboree features a variety of activities, including group rides, thrilling ATV drag races and even a unique game of ATV soccer.

Forget about packing your own meals — there will be plenty of delicious barbecue options available, including brisket, chicken, scones and more, with an optional meal ticket for your convenience.

As Utah.com puts it, the Paiute Trail Jamboree is "like an ATV family reunion that you actually enjoy." Beyond the fun, it's a fantastic way to support local businesses, meet new friends and enjoy the best of the great outdoors.

This year's Jamboree will be Aug. 6–9.

Go fishing at Otter Creek

Prepare for an unforgettable fishing adventure at Otter Creek Reservoir, where the waters are known for producing some of Utah's largest rainbow, German brown, and cutthroat trout! Boat rentals are available for those wanting to explore the waters, or you can enjoy the excellent shoreline fishing that makes Otter Creek a top destination.

Open year-round, winter ice fishing is especially popular, adding an extra thrill to the chilly months.

Father's Day weekend features the more challenging Papa Bear Run, perfect for those seeking an adrenaline-packed adventure. Both events offer a unique way to honor Mom and Dad while enjoying the beauty of Piute County's trail system.

Scare up some fun on the Halloween Howl

For a more festive and frightening trail experience, be sure to attend the annual Halloween Howl on Oct. 25.

This spooktacular event invites riders to dress up in creative costumes and deck out their ATVs with eerie decorations for a truly unique experience. The fun doesn't stop there — the event also features exciting raffles and a Trunk-or-Treat to cap it off.

Celebrate Pioneer Day at the Biggest Little Rodeo
