SALT LAKE CITY — The Beach Boys, Indigo Girls, Slash and Pat Benatar are among the more than two dozen musical artists returning or performing for the first time at the Red Butte Garden Outdoor Concert Series this year.
Event organizers on Tuesday released the series' full lineup, after leaking out some parts of the schedule in March. Kaleo, Mat Kearney, Blues Traveler and JJ Grey & Mofro were previously announced, but 27 additional dates are on this year's slate. It begins with Burning Spear and Xavier Rudd on June 4 and ends with Rodrigo y Gabriela on Sept. 24.
Tickets for all June and July shows will go on sale at 7 p.m. on April 29 for all Red Butte Garden members before a general sale begins at 9 a.m. on May 2. A similar presale for members will begin at 7 p.m. on May 13 for all August and September shows before a general sale that begins at 9 a.m. on May 16, according to the venue's website.
Prices start at $35 to $90 for members and $40 to $95 for the general public, depending on the show.
The concert series — held now at an amphitheater at the northwest corner of Red Butte Garden by the University of Utah campus — began with just four shows in 1987 and has grown ever since, aside from a one-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It's brought in artists like BB King, Chicago, David Byrne, Joan Baez, John Prine, Kacey Musgraves, Norah Jones, Mavis Staples, Smokey Robinson, Vampire Weekend and Willie Nelson over the past few decades.
This year's slate was released a day after Salt Lake City announced its Twilight Concert Series lineup, which is entering its 37th year this summer.
